WEDNESDAY MARKET MOVERS

Fearless Raider at Ballarat has been backed off the map

By mid morning on Wednesday, the weight of money for Fearless Raider at Ballarat, was enormous.

Just sustained amounts going on. He’s a Terry O’Sullivan trained, bred to stay, galloper and his only run was trapped wide yet ran 3rd this grade.

In Sydney, Don’t Doubt Marley has also been well supported firming in from double figure odds when acceptances were released to be at $5.50 now.

The track will be wet in Sydney so this may effect markets.

Punters think Hostwin Legend in Brisbane is across the line.

WEDNESDAY RACING PREVIEW – WARWICK FARM

The main racing on Wednesday in NSW will be held at the  Warwick Farm track.

Sadly, the meeting will be marred by scratchings and conducted upon a wet surface.

Rain is predicted all day on Wednesday in Sydney

Rail Position: Is in True.
Track Condition: Soft 5

Race 1- All Too Hard Plate 1200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 1:15pm
Location: Warwick Farm

Not a very strong race. ELUSIVE STAR has been coming along nicely at the trials and the Bowman booking is significant. DASSAULT MIRAGE was impressive at trials but got too far back when resuming. Did run on though. ROCK OF MAHAL seems to have talent and will be thereabouts.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  DASSAULT MIRAGE @ $26.00

Race 2- Pro-Ride Plate 1300m

Date: 1/6
Time: 1:45pm
Location: Warwick Farm

RAIMENT heads a three-prong Godolphin assault on this race. Looks well above average and this trip should suit perfectly. Speed will be on and she will rocket home. FIERY TRAIL must have talent if Gai can lure Hughie away from Waller for the ride. LONGREACH is resuming but trialled very nicely for this.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  RAIMENT @ $2.10

Race 3- 3YO  Fillies Mdn 1200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 2:15pm
Location: Warwick Farm

EPITOMISE was a $650,000 purchase in her day and debuts here. Hasn’t set world on fire in three trials but stable can improve them sharply race day. Watch market. PEPPERBERRY was most disappointing when very heavily backed last start when resuming. Trialled really well so 2nd spot last start can be improved upon here. OCEAN SPRAY is smart and needs to be respected. Trials have been good and drawn well.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  OCEAN SPRAY @ $5.00

Race 4- Press Statement Hcp 2200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 2:45pm
Location: Warwick Farm

ZABEELIONS ran a cracking race similar grade last start and just peaked on run last 75m indicating not quite fit enough. Should be this time. EL NOVIO is stepping up in grade but gives the impression this trip may suit. Is bound to be right in the finish. HE’S DREAMIN’ is an old pro. Anchored by big weight last start. Gets claim here and should be running on resolutely.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  HE’S DREAMIN’ @ $11.00

Race 5- BM 72 Hcp 1300m

Date: 1/6
Time: 3:15pm
Location: Warwick Farm

In the old days this would be a fillies and mares high weight. SPICED won above her station last start and that suggests she is both in form and progressing. Up in grade here again, but is talented. HARLEM LADY was disappointing last start, no two ways about it. Put it down to 2nd up syndrome and expect improvement. FUN LOVING will go hard early and that may help her hang tough.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  HARLEM LADY – scratched

Race 6- Farewell Ray Murrihy Hcp 1100m

Date: 1/6
Time: 2:45pm
Location: Warwick Farm

NAVUA MIST was resuming last start and stood up. Raced home in impressive fashion and this, although tougher, may well be within her reach such was her effort. BAGGIO is resuming but did win handsomely when resuming last campaign while COLOUR DROPS has an heir of x-factor about her. Drawn great too.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  COLOUR DROPS @ $3.60

Race 7- BM 71 Hcp 1600m

Date: 1/6
Time: 4:15pm
Location: Warwick Farm

If OUR BEATNIK runs up to what he did last start, he’ll brain this field. And it’s a decent field. But his acceleration was spine-tingling. RYE, his stablemate, did likewise when resuming last start and is drawn to be out of bother and within striking distance throughout. HIGH SPIRIT was victim of 2nd up syndrome last start. Big place chance here.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  OUR BEATNIK @ $4.20

WEDNESDAY RACING PREVIEW – DOOMBEN

The main racing on Wednesday in Queensland will be held at the  Doomben track.

Because of the Winter Carnival, some pretty sharp gallopers have been bunted to midweek grade – which should help punters.

Rail Position: Is out 6m the entire track
Track Condition: Good 4

Race 1- Giddy Up Class 4  1640m

Date: 1/6
Time: 12.53pm
Location: Doomben

What an eclectic gathering of horses. We have them from NSW and of course locally. COMACINA’s form in this grade and slightly better of late suggests he is going to take some beating here. Gets back but really attacks the line. Sydney galloper KAZOOM hasn’t shown much for a long time, but down in grade and coming off a fair run last start, he may place. EVERYBODY HAPPY, ha, wouldn’t that be nice….anyway, she’s in form but up in grade. Can place.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  COMACINA @ $3.20

Race 2- Moet and Chandon Mdn Plate 1200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 1:23pm
Location: Doomben

CAFÉ TERRACE is soooo close to a win. Ridden to lead this grade when resuming and just failed to hold on. So much fitter now and can go all the way. MYSTERIUM just doesn’t know how to win…but saying that doesn’t know how to run a bad race either. Always a danger this company while RIMMSKI is unraced and well worth a watch on market move.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  CAFÉ TERRACE @ $2.10

Race 3- Mt Franklin Mdn 1200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 1:53pm
Location: Doomben

AMBITIOUS BLONDE didn’t have things go her way last start yet still ran boldly. Looks perfectly placed and if Tegan can find cover, will prove hard to hold out. BIDII BABE is talented. Resuming here and may need a run to prove herself. ROSIE’S HEART is on the improve and with no weight and ideally drawn must be respected.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  AMBITIOUS BLONDE @ $3.70

Race 4- Hamilton 2YO 1200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 2:23pm
Location: Doomben

There will be speed aplenty here. HOSTWIN LEGEND has enormous gate speed and should ping and head across the face of the field. If he finds the fence it may be game over. AURUM LAD is better than last start 6th. Expect improvement. DISTORTION will appreciate this grade a whole lot more than last start and will improve.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  HOSTWIN LEGEND @ $2.90

Race 5- Teddy Bears Picnic 3YO 2220m

Date: 1/6
Time: 2:53pm
Location: Doomben

How do we go past MYSTIC OPAL? Not far away in Group 2 grade last start after easily winning this grade start prior with 54kg. Weight rise is biggest hurdle this time around. MULTIMEDIA on the other hand, is in great form and is perfectly weighted now with claim for Sarah Eilbeck. SLAUGHTER BAY has found form and that helps in this company.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  MYSTIC OPAL @ $2.60

Race 6- Treasury Casino F&M Class 3 1110m

Date: 1/6
Time: 3:23pm
Location: Doomben

AMBER JEWEL is going for a hat trick here. Won easily both starts to date at Gatton. This is a lot deeper but is just so fast and strong she must be considered. LADY DENMAN has come back to racing very well this campaign. Looks a great place chance. MAGNUS COR because of draw and emerging talent will be thereabouts.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  AMBER JEWEL @ $4.00

Race 7- James Boags C&G Class 3 1110m

Date: 1/6
Time: 3:53pm
Location: Doomben

MARSHAL will roll forward ensuring a wickedly fast pace. This will open it up for talented young speedster MY COUSIN BOSSY to really shine. WIGGLESWORTH can always be relied upon to put in a solid effort this grade.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  MY COUSIN BOSSY @ $5.00

Race 8- 11 June BM 85 1350m

Date: 1/6
Time: 4:23pm
Location: Doomben

Right down at the bottom of the weights is the very much in-form MAGAZINE MISS. Scooted across from an outside alley to be on outside of lead then powered away BM70 grade last start. Will have to do same here but has less weight. Harder though. TOP TONE was in desperate need of the run last start and still looked a big chance 200m from home. Fitter, will be very tough while SIEGFRIED is a hardened campaigner this grade.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  TOP TONE @ $8.50

NRL TEAM NEWS – ROUND 13

Wednesday night’s Origin clash has had a significant bearing on the Round 13 team announcements. Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett has opted to rest Queensland stars Corey Oates and Matt Gillett, but his other four Maroons reps have been named for the trip to Auckland.

North Queensland have listed all five of their Origin players in the starting line-up for Saturday’s home game against Newcastle, but a rejigged Melbourne line-up will not feature Queensland veterans Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk, who have both been rested.

All other Origin reps have been named to play, pending injuries to come out of Game 1.

The Warriors’ three-quarter line has been boosted by the return of Solomone Kata and Manu Vatuvei, though the predicted wholesale changes to the embattled side did not eventuate.

James Tedesco (Tigers) and Dale Copley (Roosters) return from injury layoffs, while mid-season recruits Chris Grehvsmuhl (Panthers), Konrad Hurrell (Titans) and Junior Paulo (Raiders) are all a chance of debuting for their new clubs.

Former Australian Test winger Akuila Uate has been axed by Knights coach Nathan Brown, and Jordan Rankin is the odd man out in the Tigers’ backline selection scramble with rookie Josh Addo-Carr retaining his spot.

Wednesday Racing Preview – Ballarat

The main racing on Wednesday in Victoria will be held at the Ballarat track.

Sadly, the meeting will be marred by scratchings and conducted upon a very soggy surface.

Rail Position: Is out 3m from 800m – 400m. True Remainder
Track Condition: Heavy 8

Race 1- 3YO and Up Mdn 1100m

Date: 1/6
Time: 1:00pm
Location: Ballarat On their respective last starts, LEVITICAL should be winning this. Is drawn well and last start, ran home gamely for 2nd at Geelong in a better class maiden. ELITE NORMA has had many chances but is getting close to a win while WHITE LIONESS should be fitter following a useful run when resuming.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  LEVITICAL @ $1.60

Race 2- TGM 2YO 1100m

Date: 1/6
Time: 1:30pm
Location: Ballarat

The perfectly named HOLLYWOODGIRL (dam is Goodbye Norma Jean) has talent to go with her looks. Stormed home in a strong 2YO last start at Cranbourne and looks fitter for this assignment. ANOTHER COLDIE is in the form stable but hasn’t raced and 3rd in a trial was not asked to do anything. LA VOLT has drawn poorly but is expected to rattle home.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  HOLLYWOODGIRL @ $3.00

Race 3- 3YO Mdn 1400m

Date: 1/6
Time: 2:00pm
Location: Ballarat

DISTANT SKY comes into this off two runner-up efforts both in this grade. There’s a school of thought that says he should have won last start. Drawn gate 2…all looks in readiness for a win. NO LOVE was disappointing but to be fair was in need of the run when resuming last start. Can improve to place here while PRIA ECLIPSE gets in well after Jess Payne’s claim.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  DISTANT SKY @ $1.75

Race 4- 2YO and Up Mdn 1600m

Date: 1/6
Time: 2:30pm
Location: Ballarat

A 1600m maiden, you nearly have to look for the best trainer of stayers…and well, Darren Weir has one in this called KILLDERKING. He wasn’t disgraced when 4th this grade last start and held his ground to the line. Should appreciate this trip even more. DON’T BE SHY has hoof on the till. Made a move last start and condition gave out. Fitter now and can bob. DASH FOR DEE is nicely drawn and there is nothing wrong with his form including strong effort in tough maiden last start when 3rd.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  DASH FOR DEE @ $4.40

Race 5- F & M BM 64 Hcp 1100m

Date: 1/6
Time: 3:00pm
Location: Ballarat

The pace will be keen in this with some enterprising young stars clashing. STRYKINGLEE is a 3YO who led and raced away to win easier maiden on debut. This is much harder but has obvious talents. JESTER’S ANGEL is very honest this company and should be suited by the speed battle up front while SVETLA’S STAR won two in a row before spelling.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  STRYKINGLEE @ $1.80

Race 6- Hygain BM 70 Hcp 1200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 3:30pm
Location: Ballarat

BABY DON’T CRY has form in better grade of late and on that rates very highly…but, she’s done that before when dropping in grade and failed. Watch market. CHAT TO MAGEE is the best horse but disappointed last start. Did win two in a row before that this grade. WHITE DOLLAR SIGN may need the run but has a bit of class about him and pay to watch.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  BABY DON’T CRY @ $3.30

Race 7- BM 70 Hcp 2200m

Date: 1/6
Time: 4:00pm
Location: Ballarat

HUCKNALL didn’t let us down last start with a gallant win. Up in grade here but is in form with top rider engaged. LUNAYIR wont know itself in this weaker grade but does need to lift on recent ordinary efforts while TWIN TEA BAGS is the emerging star on the scene this company. Will be supported.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  LUNAYIR @ $11.00

Race 8- BM 78 Hcp 1400m

Date: 1/6
Time: 4:30pm
Location: Ballarat Biggest field of the day and it’s like a lottery. BETTER LAND has always shown above average ability and not sure if the rails draw here is in his favour or not. Did run and win with gusto last start. VICTORY DOWNS is as honest as the day is long and seems to be a right royal competitor, always in there for the fight. SCAPA Cove surprised with win when resuming and although up in grade, should be in for the fight too.

The Early Crows Top Tip:  BETTER LAND @ $4.00
