WEDNESDAY RACING PREVIEW – SANDOWN

The main racing on Saturday in Victoria will be held at the Sandown (Hillside) race track.

Track’s a little damp under foot but I’ve found at least 3 standouts.

Rail Position: is out 10m entire course

Track Condition: rates a soft 5

Race 1- Females BM 64

Date: 10/5
Time: 1:00pm
Location: Sandown

Given how the weight scale has unfolded here, this looks a walk in the park for CHLOE’S COMET. She has no other option than to ping the lids and charge across the face of the field. And in doing that, she will fire up ensuring a fast pace….which will suit her. MISS UNIVERSE is pretty smart too and she won 2 in a row before reaching up to better grade and a courageous 3rd. Will be running on. DIAPASON settled well back and stormed home to win provincial maiden last start on debut. Fast tempo suits, but rise in grade may test.

Race 2- BM 64 1600m

Date: 10/5
Time: 1:30pm
Location: Sandown

BIRDS OF TOKYO is racing below best and actually looks out of form. However, is very fit and this is a drop back in grade. Top jock engaged…expect improvement. CROCODILE SHOES is resuming here but showed enough last campaign overseas in longer races to suggest he might be a pretty fair horse going forward. Watch market moves. THE ULTIMATUM has drawn perfectly and did run a cracker of a race this grade when resuming for 2nd place. Fitter now.

Race 3- Open BM 78 Hcp 1000m

Date: 10/5
Time: 2:00pm
Location: Sandown

SECRET BLEND was terrific first up this grade and then 2nd up syndrome set in and flopped next outing. Weight relief here is a big help too. Worth another chance.   THE DYNAMO is just sooo consistent and keeps bobbing up in every grade rise. Is 2nd up here after a nice return when 5th this grade last start. Big show while BENNY DEE is the interesting runner. Poor form when last in work but 2 easier grade kills on the bounce this campaign suggests all is well going forward.

Race 4- Females BM 70 1300m

Date: 10/5
Time: 2:30pm
Location: Sandown

MOONLOVER will find this tough but did a good job in what may be a tougher r4ace last start when 6th. Extra trip is a help here too. ALITTLEBITOFCLASS looked smart first 2 runs back placing 2nd both times before up in grade and flopping last start. Can show up in this with Willow on board. WASABI rising long way in grade following nice win when resuming. Fitter now, gets weight relief too. Chance again.

Race 5- Open BM 70 Hcp 1300m

Date: 10/5
Time: 3:00pm
Location: Sandown

SEARCH SQUAD has been up a fair while but is the best performed horse in this field and recent strong runs, including win last start, suggest keenness for racing is still there. CHATEAU CHEVAL is soooo honest. Look at record this campaign: 7 starts, a win and 6 placings. Well up to this. VOLCANIC ERUPTION is up in grade but is 2nd up from spell after terrific run when resuming. Harder here but won well last start, and can place.

Race 6- 3YO BM 70 1600m

Date: 10/5
Time: 3:30pm
Location: Sandown

THINK BABE is making a name for herself. Looks a progressive type capable of reaching Black Type level. Up on pace all way and strong 2nd in $250,000 over 1600m race last start. Gets weight relief here and should nearly lead all way. BARRY THE BAPTIST is up in grade here following a solid mdn win on a heavy 9 last start. Place. MACATTACK is an honest galloper and always puts in. Those types are good to bet on.

Race 7- Le Pine Funerals BM 70 1800m

Date: 10/5
Time: 4:00pm
Location: Sandown

SHINTARO stormed home to win similar race last start at 4th run this time in. Rock hard now. Sure to be in the finish. CHEQUERED FLAG placed at 8 of past 9 starts and is in the massively in form D.K Weir stable. That’ll do me for this. MALMAS should be kept safe. French import who won by a hundred yards mdn grade last start at first asking over a trip. Clearly is smart.

Race 8- Females BM 70 1600m

Date: 10/5
Time: 4:30pm
Location: Sandown

MISS CLOONEY has been up for a long while but is retaining her form and in fact looks to be thriving. Won 2 of past 4 in this grade and weight relief makes her appealing. SPANISH LOVE is 3rd up here so should have foot on till. Is with Darren Weir which makes her most appealing too. CHAMPAGNE READY just stormed to victory last start and against own sex here rates a big winning chance again.
